Flux in electrolytic metal production (such as titanium and aluminum production), used as aluminum welding agent, air conditioning dehumidifier and special cement raw materials, but also used in flame, in the battery industry for the production of lithium manganese battery electrolyte. Anhydrous LiCl is mainly used as flux and brazing agent for electrolytic preparation of li metal and aluminum metal, and as hygroscopicity (dehumidification) agent in non-refrigerated air conditioning machine.
Lithiummetal can be prepared by electrolyzing LiCl/KCl mixed molten salt at 600ºC. The industrial metal lithium is produced by this method. Lithium chloride is also used as a dehumidifier in air conditioning systems, as a good flux in metal electrolysis or powder preparation (such as titanium and aluminum production), as a precipitant for RNA, and as an additive in Stille reactions.
