Myristic acid, also known as tetradecanoic acid, is a saturated fatty acid with the molecular formula C14H28O2 and a molecular weight of 228.37. It is a white to slightly yellowish-white hard solid, sometimes a lustrous crystalline solid, or a white to slightly yellowish-white powder, and is odorless.

It exists in the form of glycerides in natural substances such as nutmeg oil (with a content of 70% to 80%), palm oil (with a content of 1% to 3%), and coconut oil (with a content of 17% to 20%) in plant oils. It is used to prepare various edible spices, additives, metal processing agents, and solvents for spices.
